We listen, act, and transform
Hello! My name is April, and I am a fully licensed counselor. I have worked with clients with a variety of issues, including anxiety, grief, PTSD, gender and sexual identity issues, abuse, narcissistic abuse, addiction, sex work issues, and homelessness. I am also familiar with veteran issues. I'm a military Gold Star mother, so I'm familiar with loss, tragedy, and the grieving process in learning how to hold the memories of our loved ones dear while continuing to find meaning in life.
I'm also a mother to a wonderful young man, who is trans. Watching him go through the process of transformation to his true, authentic self was a wonderful experience to be a part of. Everyone deserves a safe place to explore their genuine self. I go by she/her pronouns, and I will respect yours if you care to tell me.
My counseling style is open and nonjudgmental. I believe everyone deserves a safe place. I use acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), Rogerian therapy, cognitive-behavioral (CBT), humanistic, solution focus, and client centered approaches, among others, to suit each individuals needs.
If you're ready to start, we will work on reducing anxiety and stress, processing grief and trauma, changing self-defeating behaviors, and achieving some goals. I'm here to take those steps with you.
I look forward to working with you!
